Juanitas Fear of Boots

Juanita she have big big phobia for dirty boots. When the army come her village, she remember they break through her door with their feet first. She hide under the bed and she hear the scream and fighting, but all she see are the boots. They put the dirt everywhere on her clean floor, over the pretty rainbow rug her aunties make, and break the house she make for her dolls.

The boot also kick the red stain from her father. When they take him away, they leave the stain behind on the wall, in the corner. After they are gone she try and she try to make clean the wall, just like before, but no matter how she work, this she can never make clean again.

Last year we find her walk the forest all alone. She look very sad, so I ask her if maybe she want help us find the the cheeky yellow monkey who take my underpants. She make the big smile, and soon we become good friend.

Now she live here with us in my pueblo. She make the best bread in whole of Chiapas.

She like keep her kneepit very clean, and will be happy see you if you ever come visit.

Just remember please to leave your dirty boot at the door.

Juanita say thank you.

How wonderful that Juanita has found a home with you. It is a sad statement about today's world, that there are many many more Juanitas out there.

A powerful illustration.
